Can a group of persons open such accounts, or are they only for individuals?
Yes, groups (e.g., scouts, choirs) may fund Legacy Scholarships. Over 100 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Sorority, Inc., contributed over $5,000 to the first such fund to honor Interim ASBC Pastor, Rev. Dr. Faye S. Gunn.

Can I select the person who gets my legacy scholarship?
No, the IRS prohibits such a selection. All scholarships are awarded competitively, based on established criteria. You may prescribe the criteria (e.g., females in Math), but the recipients must be selected by the Foundation.

Is the Foundation associated with any major fund-raising appeal?
Yes, the Foundation participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). Our CFC number is 47662. Participation in such campaigns places certain restrictions on how we raise money and how funds are spent.

How can I become involved in the Foundation?
The eleven members of the Board are appointed. However, the Foundation has created an Auxiliary of interested persons who support specific tasks. Also, most Foundation meetings are open to the public.
