Sunday School & Weekend Classes

Sunday School

Saturday, 4:45 – 5:45 p.m., Room 314, Adult Classes
Sunday, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., All Classrooms, Adults and Children
Saturday and Sunday School classes give all ages the opportunity to study and discuss God’s Word. Join other disciples to learn and grow through His Word.

Purpose of Sunday School

We believe in the Great Commission; as it applies to Sunday School. To change lives for Jesus Christ by evangelizing the lost and disciplining those who respond to the Gospel through our classes, which we study the philosophy of the Bible and it’s teaching on how to live the principles of Christ.

The Sunday School Ministry is committed to moving members from Membership to Discipleship.

“Information and Explanation are Foundational to our teaching, but Transformation is the Goal!”
Therefore, we focus on teaching believers to obey him in every aspect of their lives and to develop a relationship with Christ that leads to becoming fully committed followers of Christ.

Jesus gives us a clear and concise ministry goal: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, “Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the ages.”

Here is what we are learning this week in Sunday School

Topic: A Sign of Agreement.
Scripture: Genesis 17:1-14.
Key Verse: “This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.”
(Genesis 17:10)
General Lesson: Signs of God’s Covenants.
Unifying Lesson

Principle: Humans have an innate desire to support their children and ensure their future. What is required to make this possible? God used circumcision to
ratify an everlasting covenant between God and Abram to make him and his descendants prosperous, provided they walked with God and lived
blameless lives.

Youth Division Classes

•Middle School (Grades 6 – 8)
•High School (Grades 9 – 12)
Sunday School offers our Middle School and High School students an experience that keeps them engaged and encourages additional, more in-depth study of God’s Word. The Sunday School curriculum has the following features for our youth: a new format; the lessons are brief and more relevant; realistic imagery; it provides a student devotional calendar; and articles that focus on teen and cultural issues.

Here is what we are learning this week in Sunday School

Topic: What’s The Sign?
Scripture: Genesis 17:1-14.
Key Verse: “This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised.”
(Genesis 17:10)
General Lesson: Sign’s of God’s Covenants.
Overview: The lesson discussion will be why God invited the Jewish people into a covenant relationship whereby they could call on Him for whatever they needed.
Why, because God wanted to call on His people for whatever He needed them to do. As the teacher would indicate that this is still true today. They will
be reminded that God wants a relationship with every believer. It means that God does not just want you to know of Him, but He really wants you to
know His sovereign power in a personal way. They again will be reminded to pray and thank God for wanting to have a covenant relationship with you.
Also, they will be reminded to commit to live a life that reflects His holy image.

Our Sunday School Children’s Curriculum offers exciting new features to train, to entertain and to keep our children engaged, as young developing Christians. For our younger children we provide scripts using our hand puppet (Pax the Penguin). Also, in our older children classes we use: Ruby the Red Panda, Nicholas and Cornelius the Camel. We also provide additional children’s activities to our classes that teach scripture and “WWJD” (What Would Jesus Do).

Here is what we are learning this week in Sunday School

Topic: An Important Promise.
Scripture: Genesis 17:1-9

Key Verse: [God said,] “I will make my covenant between me and you.” (Genesis 17:2)
Faith Block: God makes great promises! God made a promise to Abram.
Objective: In this lesson, they will discuss the promises God made to Abraham. The question that will be raised to each student “Has anyone ever made a promise to you and did not keep it? How did that make you feel? God always keeps His promises. Parents to reinforce the lesson, review your family tree with your
child. As a family, give thanks to God for blessing your family.
