Last week, God showed Himself to be a provider.
I am a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, and I hold the position of a state leader within the organization. My administration and I are preparing for a conference in February, and last week, as we prepared, I was informed that we needed more funds to hold up our payment agreement on a hotel space for the conference. So you can understand, let me take you back to the beginning of January.
As I did last year, I wrote to an Indian tribe here in Oklahoma who sponsored and supported an event (not the conference) we did last year, asking them to sponsor again this year. As of last week, I had yet to hear from them. Since SEEK started, I have been seeking God's face for myself in the area of understanding the office of prophecy and seeking God for my position in my fraternity and guidance as a state leader. Just last week, after getting the news that we couldn't uphold our agreement with the hotel for our conference, I began to seek God for direction and a way to handle that situation. I professionally contacted the hotel and reassured them we would honor our payment arrangement, and they graciously heard me and extended grace. However, I still needed to figure out how we would honor that agreement. While driving to another state to support another state leader in my fraternity last week, I checked my emails. The email I sent to the Indian tribe at the beginning of January was answered. It was the tribe agreeing to not only sponsor our event but assure us that they would always support us in all endeavors we do in Oklahoma. With those words, an agreement to pay us $10,000 was added. I had forgotten about the request I made at the beginning of January because weeks had passed with no reply from the Indian tribe.
I must confess, I doubted that we could make good on the agreement, but even amid doubt that set into my mind, I still was SEEKING God for guidance, direction, and, as the old folks say, "a ram in the bush" for the situation. And in due time, He provided. The agreement I made with the hotel was that we would pay a portion the day I received the email, and the other portion we would pay the following week. I give God all the glory and praise, for He is always an on-time God.
